Records: No. 22 Notre Dame 11-1, Niagara 5-6
When: 7 p.m. today
Where: Purcell Pavilion, South Bend
Web: ESPNU
Radio: 1450 AM
Notre Dame leaders: Jack Cooley (14.5 ppg); Cooley (11 rpg); Eric Atkins (7.5 apg)
Niagara leaders: Antoine Mason (19.2 ppg); T.J. Cline (5.5 rpg); Juanya Green (4.8 apg)
Key matchup: Atkins is coming off a career-high 13 assists in Wednesdays 85-57 win over Kennesaw State. The 6-foot-2 junior is also averaging 10.8 points. Green, a 6-3 sophomore, will need to keep Atkins in check while also running the Purple Eagles offense.
The skinny: Irish guard Jerian Grant will likely not play tonight after injuring his back when he landed hard after a collision with Kennesaw States Jordan Montgomery on Wednesday. I just think hes going to be too sore until we get back from Christmas, coach Mike Brey said. Notre Dame closes its non-conference schedule with its fourth game in seven days. The Irish have won their last nine games. Niagara has won three of its last four games but is 0-2 all time against Notre Dame.
