Mad Ants lose at Maine

The December struggles continued Friday for the Mad Ants.

Ron Howard scored 30 points for Fort Wayne in a 109-99 loss to Maine at the Portland Expo Building in Portland, Maine.

Mike Anderson and Tony Mitchell scored 16 for the Mad Ants (3-9). Mitchell and Anderson had eight and six rebounds, respectively. Howard had five rebounds and four assists.

Sadiel Rojas had 14 points and JaJuan Johnson scored 15 points.

The Mad Ants are 1-7 this month. The only win came Dec. 15 against Springfield. Maine has defeated Fort Wayne three times this month.

Fort Wayne jumped out to a 30-20 lead at the end of the first quarter. Maine outscored the Mad Ants 30-20 in the second quarter to tie the game at 50 at halftime.

The Red Claws outscored the Mad Ants 32-19 in the third quarter to pull away.

Shelvin Mack had 27 points and 12 assists to lead Maine(7-3). Chris Wright had 22 points and 15 rebounds. Xavier Silas had 19 points. Micah Downs scored 10 points.

Maine shot 55.7 percent from the floor. Fort Wayne shot 42.9 percent.

The Mad Ants are at Springfield today.
