Verbatim: I & M report 14,000 customers without power

From a report received Friday morning: A winter blast came through I&M's service territory late Thursday night and early Friday, with winds knocking down trees and downing power lines.

As of 9:30 a.m., more than 14,000 customers were without power, primarily in southwestern Michigan and northwestern Indiana.

Of the 14,000 customers awaiting restoration, about 8,000 are in southwestern Michigan with about 3,200 in northwestern Indiana.

Nearly 1,600 customers are without power in northeast Indiana, with about 500 awaiting restoration in east central Indiana.
