Lee Etzler confirmed he has stepped down as the Churubusco football coach.
Etzler said in a text message he told his players Thursday about his decision. He wrote he will officially submit a letter of resignation Friday.
"I feel that my priorities need to be shifted a little more toward my family," Etzler wrote.
Etzler, the son of legendary Woodlan football coach Leland Etzler, was 85-40 in 12 years at Churubusco. Etzler won two Class A sectionals and regionals at the school and fell in the 2A sectional the past two seasons to eventual state champion Bishop Luers.
Up until last year, Etzler was the school's athletic director and football coach.
