Friday may or may not mark the end of the world, but the folks at RateBeer Weekly – a weekly roundup for craft beer enthusiasts – call themselves a cautious bunch. To make sure beer lovers were prepared, the newsletter put together a list of doomsday brews to help you get through the apocalypse.
Consider it a last beverage to accompany your last meal.
Mike Lang, with Cap n Corks corporate office, says Cap n Cork locations carry beers by two of the following brewers. Phone calls to Belmont Beverages corporate offices were not returned.
Stone Enjoy By IPA (12-21-12) – This beer is not brewed to last, and theres a batch of it that expires Friday. (Lang says some local stores have Stone beers in.)
Cigar City Hunahpus Imperial Stout – Hunahpu is a figure in Mayan folklore and a mythical source of cocoa.
BrewDog Tactical Nuclear Penguin
Lost Abbey Judgment Day
Goose Island Xocolatl – Thats show-CO-lah-tul, or an Aztec chocolate. (Lang says Cap n Cork does carry Goose Island beers, but not Xocolatl.)
Elysian Cthulhu Porter – Cthulhu, pronounced kuh-THOOL-hoo, is a big ol cosmic creature with a bunch of tentacles created by H.P. Lovecraft in 1926.
New restaurants
Comfort Food Delivered (3201 Stellhorn Road) has plans to open a location – its second in the area – in the Rousseau Centre, formerly the City-County Building (1 E. Main St.). Owner Tammi McKee has set a projected opening date of Jan. 7.
Comfort Food is a catering company that makes and delivers lunch to downtown businesses and surrounding companies and is based out of the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center on Stellhorn Road and is not open for entry by the public. The new restaurant, which McKee is referring to as Comfort Food Café, is more of a cafeteria-style setup, where customers can order food and eat in. She says the food will be diner type.
The café will also have delivery, though the menu will differ from that at Comfort Food Delivered, where menus contain items as varied as homemade quiche, grilled chicken sandwiches and salads.
The standardized café menu will change seasonally, McKee says, and feature daily specials. Both locations will deliver to their surrounding areas, though McKee foresees the first location specializing in catering.
A second Moes Southwest Grill opened in Fort Wayne, at 1808 W. Dupont Road. It is on the corner of West Dupont and Lima roads. The other Moes is at 6739 W. Jefferson Blvd.

The cost per child will cover the cookies, and any additional funds will also be donated to the shelter.
