Ants lose to Canton

The Mad Ants nearly erased a 17-point deficit, getting it down to 5 with 7:38 still left in the game, but wound up losing to Canton 97-81 Tuesday at Memorial Coliseum.

The Ants (3-8) will play twice over the weekend - at Maine on Friday and at Springfield on Saturday. It begins a stretch in which the Mad Ants will play 10 of their next 13 games on the road.

Ron Howard's shot off the right baseline with 7:38 left got the Ants to within 78-73, but Canton went on an 8-2 run to pull away.

JaJuan Johnson led the Ants with 17 points, but had 13 at the half. Kim English added 15, and Tony Mitchell had 10.
