Norwell tops South Adams in pool

Norwell freshman Kayla DeRemer won two events as the Knights slid past visiting South Adams 88-87 in a girls swimming meet Thursday.

DeRemer won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events in 2:18.59 and 6:06.62 respectively.

South Adams’ Cady Farlow won four events: the 100 freestyle, the 100 breaststroke and 400 freestyle and 200 medley relays.

ADAMS CENTRAL 79, ANGOLA 78: Travis Bebout won the 200 and 500 freestyles and was part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team for the visiting Jets’ boys team.

Angola won the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays, while Fremont’s Arman Salim won the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley events, as an individual.

Girls basketball

LAKEWOOD PARK 74, LAKELAND 46: The host Panthers outscored the Lakers 22-7 in the second quarter en route to the rout.

Suzanne Grimm had 18 points, while Natalie Mafera and Rae Faur each had 12.


WARSAW 36, WAWASEE 35: The Tigers slipped past the Warriors on the road.

Winning for Warsaw were Ricardo Ahuati (138), Marcos Rodriguez (170), Kyle Heckaman (182), Alec Haines (220), Luis Munoz (120) and Luis Cervantes (126).

BISHOP DWENGER 40, CONCORDIA 29: The visiting Saints’ got pins from Austin Hillman (145 pounds), Nick Lehman (152), Ben Evans (195), Louis Garrett (120) and Dominic Garrett (126) in the win.

Dwenger also picked up a major decision (11-3) win from Jordon Bly at 132.
