Mad Ants NBADL

  • Mad Ants affiliates up to baker’s dozen
The D-League is moving toward a system in which there’s one team for every NBA team. But not all the NBA teams are yet interested in running a D-League team or even regularly sending players down.

Mad Ants lose 4th in a row

The Mad Ants dropped their fourth game in a row, falling to the Canton Charge 112-101 at the Canton Memorial Civic Center in Ohio.

The Ants (2-6) led 62-58 at halftime, but the Charge (3-5) outscored them 33-21 in the third quarter and never gave up the lead in the final quarter.

Ron Howard paced the Ants’ offense with 23 points, and Tony Mitchell had 21 points. The Ants’ Mike Anderson had 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Jon Leuer had 23 points and 10 rebounds for Canton, and Kyle Gibson had 16 points. Arinze Onuaku had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Also on Wednesday, 6-foot-7 forward Khris Middleton and 6-6 guard Kim English were assigned to the Ants from their Detroit Pistons affiliate, and both players will appear in the next three home games, beginning Friday against Maine. Middleton, who played at Texas A&M, has played in three games with Detroit, and English, from Missouri, has appeared in 10 games.

The Ants also obtained 6-7 forward Chris Porter, who was drafted out of Auburn in the second round in 2000 by the Golden State Warriors, where he played 51 games. The Ants waived center Sean Sonderleiter.
