North-side fire displaces 5

Fort Wayne fire crews responded to a house fire on the city's north side Thursday evening that displaced four adults and a child.

Firefighters arrived at 4813 Hunters Knoll Run, near West Wallen Road, at 6:12 p.m. and found heavy flames on the outside of the two-story home, the city fire department said.

Four adults and one child had exited the home, officials said.

Fire crews used hose lines inside the home to knock out the main fire and worked to contain the extended fire that was above the garage in the attic. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes but the home sustained heavy fire damage to the exterior wall and attic, as well as moderate water and smoke damage.

There were no reported injuries and the Red Cross and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority assisted at the scene, officials said.
