Notre Dame to play Navy at FedEx Field in 2014

Notre Dame will return to FedEx Field in 2014.

The Irish will play Navy in the NFL stadium when the Midshipmen play host for the series that has been played every year since 1926, Washington Redskins chief marketing officer Mitch Gershman and Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk announced Thursday.

Notre Dame, which plays host to Navy next season, last played at FedEx in Landover, Md., in 2011 when the Irish defeated Maryland 45-21.

Navy also played at FedEx in 2011, defeating Army 27-21.

"FedEx Field did a fine job of hosting the Army-Navy game and we are looking forward to another sold out event in 2014," Gladchuk said in a news release.

Notre Dame and Navy played each other at FedEx in 1998, with the Irish winning 30-0.

The game between Notre Dame and Navy is usually played in an NFL stadium when the Midshipmen are the host team. This season's game was played in Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.
