FORT WAYNE – Academy Award-winning actress Sissy Spacek will be the keynote speaker for its 2013 Tapestry event, IPFW announced Tuesday.
Spaceks most recent appearance was in the film adaptation of the New York Times best-seller The Help. Spacek won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Loretta Lynn in Coal Miners Daughter.
In May, she released a memoir titled My Extraordinary Ordinary Life, which details her journey to fame from a small town in Texas. The mother and wife writes about not losing sight of home and family despite building a successful professional career.
Tapestry: A Day for You, in its 12th year, is an annual fundraiser that gives women a day to take time off, learn something new and raise money for scholarships. Last year, the event broke a record by raising $86,000.
The event will be April 26 at Memorial Coliseum. Tickets are $65 a person for open seating or $700 for a reserved table for 10. The price includes breakfast, two breakout sessions, the noon luncheon, scholarship presentation and Spaceks keynote address. For more information, go to www.ipfw.edu/tapestry.
