Switch-it ladders from Home Depot recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Wing Enterprises Inc. have announced a voluntary recall of Switch-it Type 1A Stepladder/Stepstools.

They were carried exclusively by Home Depot for about $88, according to the recall notice.

When extended, the inner side rails can separate from the outer side rails causing the user to fall, the notice said.

The company has received nine reports of the ladder becoming unstable, causing injuries ranging from scrapes and contusions to a fractured collar bone.

The ladders are rated at 300 pounds and can be extended from a 2-foot stepstool to a 6-foot stepladder. The words “Switch-it by Little Giant”
