Fire at vacant house under investigation

FORT WAYNE – The cause of a basement fire in a vacant house on the city’s southeast side Tuesday morning is under investigation.

Firefighters were called to 3009 Lillie St. at 6:51 a.m., according to a statement issued by the Fort Wayne Fire Department. When they arrived, smoke was coming from the first and second floors.

Crews found a fire in the basement that extended to the first floor.

No injuries were reported.

The fire department said the house had heavy smoke damage and moderate fire and water damage.
