Fort Wayne's 2012 leaf collection has been completed, the Street Department said today.

The city collected more than 15,000 tons of leaves through 355 neighborhoods in a process that ended last week, the department said in a statement.

The seven-week pickup went through each neighborhood twice and was completed on schedule, the statement said.

It said residents who still have leaves may place them in biodegradable bags and call 311 to schedule a pickup. The service will be available through Dec. 21.

After that date, leaves and other yard waste can be dropped off at the city's biosolids facility in the 6000 block of Lake Avenue, and at National Serv-All, 6231 Macbeth Road.

The biosolids facility is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays. National Serv-All's compost site is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
