Irish land running back pledge

Notre Dame didn't waste time getting its 2013 recruiting class back to 22 memberts.

Greg Bryant, a 5-foot-11, 197-pound running back from American Heritage High School in Delray Beach, Fla., orally committed to the Irish, according to multiple reports.

Bryant's decision to commit to Notre Dame comes three days after linebacker Danny Mattingly decided to de-commit from the Irish and reopen his recruiting.

Bryant is the second Rivals.com five-star prospect to join Notre Dame's Class of 2013. Bishop Luers linebacker Jaylon Smith is also a five-star prospect, according to Rivals.com. Bryant, who originally committed to Oklahoma, is rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports.com and Scout.com.

Bryant's decision was reported by Irish Illustrated, Irish Eyes, Irish Sports Daily and Blue and Gold Illustrated.

Notre Dame also added four-star offensive lineman Jimmy Byrne, a 6-foot-4, 280-pounder from Cleveland's St. Ignatius High School, as an oral commitment for the Class of 2014 on Saturday, according to reports. He is the fourth member of the 2014 class.
