Pair of firsts

Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert, a Bishop Dwenger graduate, and Alabama center Barrett Jones are the first winners from their schools for two honors.

Eifert won the John Mackey Award (top tight end), and Jones won the Rimington Trophy (top center). They are also the first winners of those awards to play in the BCS title game.
