For the police officer, the man’s body language was the giveaway. His combative stance and his abrupt hand movement hinted at the possibility of danger.Authorities are looking for help in solving the fatal shooting of a dog last week at a home southwest of Van Wert.
The dog’s owner, who lives on Neiford Road, told Van Wert County sheriff’s deputies he came home about 4:30 p.m. Nov. 29 and discovered that his 8-month-old German shepherd had been shot through the muzzle, according to the sheriff’s department.
The dog was taken to a veterinary clinic in Decatur and euthanized because of its injuries, the sheriff’s department said.
