Van Wert officers seek help in dog shooting

Authorities are looking for help in solving the fatal shooting of a dog last week at a home southwest of Van Wert.

The dog’s owner, who lives on Neiford Road, told Van Wert County sheriff’s deputies he came home about 4:30 p.m. Nov. 29 and discovered that his 8-month-old German shepherd had been shot through the muzzle, according to the sheriff’s department.

The dog was taken to a veterinary clinic in Decatur and euthanized because of its injuries, the sheriff’s department said.
