Class, discussion

Crossroads Bible College, 1027 W. Rudisill Blvd., is having a five-week class called “Understanding and Applying the Bible” at 6 p.m. some Tuesdays through Jan. 8. Lifetree Cafe is having a discussion on life-and-death decisions, hardships and disabilities, including a filmed interview with a couple that learned its baby would have profound disabilities when it was born. The discussion takes place from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the New Ground Coffee Company, 5925 N. Clinton St.

Holiday events

Concordia Theological Seminary, 6600 N. Clinton St., will have an advent brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in Katherine Luther Dining Hall. Tickets are $16 for adults, $15 for those 60 and older, $5 for children 5 to 12 and free for those 4 and younger. The seminary will also have Advent Candlelight Choral Vespers at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Kramer Chapel.

Emmaus Lutheran Church, 8626 Covington Road, is hosting the Women’s Guild’s annual cookie fair from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 15. Cookies will be sold by the pound.

St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 7308 St. Joe Road, is having a St. Nicholas party for children at 3 p.m. Sunday. It will include crafts, tree decorating and treats.

Pilgrim Baptist Church music and Sunday school departments are presenting the family Christmas musical “Father, Can You Hear Me?” at 6 p.m. Dec. 15 at South Side High School, 3601 S. Calhoun St. Bring a non-perishable food item for admission. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Imago Dei is hosting the gospel quartet Tribute at its 6 p.m. service Sunday at Imagine Master Academy, 2000 N. Wells St.

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 2120 S. Harrison St., is celebrating the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Sunday. The celebration will include a 12:30 p.m. Mass, a 2:30 p.m. procession to and from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and a 4:30 p.m. celebration at St. Patrick’s.
