Driver in crash that killed boy charged with DWI

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Central Ohio authorities say a 5-year-old boy has been killed in a traffic crash caused by an impaired driver.

Columbus police said Tucker Northeimer died at a hospital following the Wednesday afternoon crash on the city’s north side.

Tucker was in a Volvo driven by his father, 30-year-old Joshua Northeimer, when it was struck by a pickup truck that police say ran a red light at an intersection. The truck’s driver, 32-year-old William Hill, was arrested for aggravated vehicular homicide and drunken driving.

Joshua Northeimer and Tucker’s sister, 3-year-old Ella, were injured but are expected to be OK. Police said Tucker and Ella were in child car seats in the back seat.

Hill was not injured. Jail records did not indicate if he had an attorney.
