Stutzman selects new chief of staff

Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-3rd, announced Wednesday that he has named Matt Lloyd as his chief of staff.

Lloyd, who has worked nearly 10 years for Rep. Mike Pence, R-6th, replaces Tim Harris as Stutzman's top aide. Pence was elected governor in the Nov. 6 election, and Stutzman won election to his second term in the House.

"Matt is just the right fit for our organization," Stutzman said in a statement.

Lloyd was Pence's communications director, and headed up the press offices in the House Republican Conference and the House Republican Study Committee when Pence was chairman of those caucuses. Lloyd was communications director for Pence's gubernatorial campaign.

Lloyd also has worked for the George W. Bush administration and for Republican Reps. Kevin Brady of Texas and Rick Hill of Montana.

Harris had been executive director of the Indiana Utility Shareholders Association before joining Stutzman's staff in 2010. He and Stutzman sat next to each other when both were in the Indiana House in the mid-2000s.
