VALPARAISO - IPFW went nearly 14 minutes without scoring a basket in the second half in a 63-52 loss to Valparaiso on Wednesday at the Athletics-Recreation Center.

Prior to that, Valparaiso (6-2) went on a 10-0 run when it broke away from a 43-41 game into a 53-41 lead.

Senior guard Frank Gaines, who had 14 points in the first half that saw IPFW trail 35-32, was held to five free throws in the second half and finished with 19 points to lead the Mastodons.
