Police: Gas station clerk shoots robber

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Police say a clerk at a central Indiana gas station shot and wounded one of two men who tried to rob the business.

Shelbyville police Lt. Mike Turner says the two men entered CountryMark Bonded Gas along Indiana 44 near the city's downtown Monday night. Turner says they tried to attack the clerk who was able to get a gun and shoot at them.

The men fled from the store but Turner says the wounded man was soon found and flown to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment.

The Shelbyville News reports the second man was found and arrested about 45 minutes later in the city about 25 miles southeast of Indianapolis. WTHR-TV reports that man was hiding in shrubbery and wasn't injured.
