Vanderburgh County Sheriff Eric Williams says the two deputies were questioning the man early Tuesday about a vandalism report in rural area just west of Evansville when he became aggressive. WFIE-TV reports that Williams says the deputies were defending themselves when they shot the man.

The deputies weren't injured. The name of the man who was killed wasn't immediately released.
