Headwaters Park in downtown Fort Wayne is marking its 100th anniversary this year. WFWA-DT, Channel 39, has created a documentary, “Headwaters Park – Fort Wayne’s Lasting Legacy,” which details the history of the park and the purpose of the land for the city.
Produced by Mary Gerber, the documentary will air at 8 p.m. Wednesday on WFWA, the local PBS station.
The documentary incorporates photographs, images and information from the Allen County Public Library, the Allen County/Fort Wayne Historical Society, Headwaters Park Alliance and author Geoff Paddock, along with filmed interviews.
Rowling book to be TV series
The BBC says it is turning J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults into a TV drama.
“The Casual Vacancy” is a darkly humorous saga of modern British life in which a local council election unleashes rivalries and resentments in a small town.
The novel is Rowling’s first full-length book since she finished the “Harry Potter” saga in 2007. It was published in September to mixed reviews but topped best-seller charts.
Rowling said the BBC was the “perfect home” for her story.
The BBC said Monday that the adaptation is due to air in 2014. The number of episodes has yet to be decided.
Rock Hall selects new president, CEO
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland has hired its new president and CEO from within its leadership ranks.
The Rock Hall’s vice president of development since 2008, Gregory Harris, was announced Monday as president and CEO.
The 47-year-old Harris joined the Rock Hall from the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, N.Y., where he was vice president of development.
Redgrave, Jones on Old Vic slate
Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones are reuniting onstage to play lovers Beatrice and Benedick in Shakespeare’s comedy “Much Ado About Nothing” at London’s Old Vic Theatre.
The actors, who starred together in “Driving Miss Daisy” in the West End and on Broadway, will be directed by Mark Rylance in a production opening in September.
It’s part of a 2013 Old Vic season, announced Monday, that includes a production of Tennessee Williams’ “Sweet Bird of Youth” starring Kim Cattrall and a revival of Terence Rattigan’s “The Winslow Boy” directed by Lindsay Posner.
Artistic director Kevin Spacey says the lineup demonstrates that “the Old Vic has always been first and foremost an actors’ theater, a home for great talent and memorable performances.”
