Notre Dame defensive coordinator/assistant head coach Bob Diaco was named the winner of the Broyles Award, given to the nation's top assistant coach, Tuesday.
Diaco is the architect of the Irish's defense, which finished the season No. 1 in points allowed (10.3).
He is also one of hottest commodities on the coaching market and was linked to the head coaching opening at Boson College, according to reports.
Boston College ended up hiring Temple's Steve Addazio, according to Sports Illustrated.
