Is officiating different in ECHL?

I touched on this issue a couple weeks ago, but the Komets certainly seem to think officiating is different in the ECHL.

By different, I mean better (except for protecting the referees themselves).

Here's an interesting statistic ...

The ECHL is averaging 5,544 fans per game – on pace to break the league record of 5,312 set in 1994-95 – but that may not just be because lockout has driven players to minor-league gates.

It's still early in the ECHL season, there are now 23 teams in the league (more than any point since 25 in 2008) and the addition of the Komets and their league-leading 8,002 fans per game certainly helps.
