Notre Dame finishes No. 1 in polls

Notre Dame finished the season No. 1 in the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today coaches poll.

The Irish swept all 60 first-place AP votes again, and they received 56 of the 59 first-place place votes in the coaches poll. Alabama was No. 2 in both polls, and the Crimson Tide received three first-place votes in the coaches poll.

Notre Dame and Alabama will be matched up against each other in the Jan. 7 BCS championship game in Miami when the final BCS standings and bowl matchups are announced tonight.

As for the polls, Ohio State came in at No. 3 in the AP Top 25 followed by Florida and Oregon with Georgia, which lost to Alabama in the SEC title game Saturday, tumbling from No. 3 to No. 6.

In the coaches poll, which Ohio State is not allowed to receive votes in because of NCAA sanctions, Oregon is in the No. 3 spot followed by Florida and Georgia.
