The combination of IPFW turnovers and cold shooting enabled visiting Miami (Ohio) to grab a 32-22 halftime lead Saturday at Memorial Coliseum.
Victimized by a Miami press that contributed to 10 Mastodon turnovers, IPFW's offense never got into a rhythm.
With a little more than five minutes into the game, the RedHawks had grabbed a 16-6 lead and never let the lead slip away. Even though IPFW got within three, Miami took a 14-point, 32-18 lead with 2:08 left in the half.
Mario Hines leads IPFW, which connected on 8 of 26 shots, with 5 points. Frank Gaines, who leads the Mastodons with a 20.7 scoring average, has 4, as does Isaiah McCray.
