Driver admits fatal hit-skip guilt

Northrup

A Fort Wayne woman pleaded guilty Thursday to charges stemming from the the April hit-and-run death of 26-year-old Nathan Gatchall.

Anissa Northrup, 33, of the 1600 block of St. Marys Avenue, pleaded guilty to all the charges against her – failure to stop after an accident resulting in death, a felony, and two misdemeanor charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

With no plea agreement in place, Northrup’s sentence will be left to the discretion of an Allen Superior Court judge when she is sentenced early next year.

Northrup was driving north on Broadway about 2:45 a.m. April 15 when she hit Gatchell. She continued on without stopping, and when a police officer pulled over her minivan, which matched the description of the vehicle that left the scene, about 1 1/2 miles away, she told him the damage was from a previous crash.

She then told police she was driving north on Broadway after leaving the Steel Mill Tavern, 2123 Taylor St.
