Woman, man shot in street are ID'd

FORT WAYNE – A shooting on the southeast side Monday afternoon left a 24-year-old woman in serious condition and a 19-year-old man in fair condition, Fort Wayne police said.

They have been identified as Keneisha A. Eley and Tyrion L. McNair, both of Fort Wayne.

Officers were dispatched to the corner of Boltz and Warsaw streets shortly before 3:30 p.m., and they found the two in the street just west of the intersection, said officer Raquel Foster, police spokeswoman for an earlier story.

Foster said Eley was shot multiple times, and the man received at least two gunshot wounds. Eley was initially in critical condition, but has since been upgraded.

The relationship between them, if any, was not clear, she said.

On Monday night, the events leading up to the shooting and the motive remained unknown.

At the same intersection in August, a 13-year-old riding his bicycle was shot in the hip. He was critically injured but survived the shooting. No arrests have been made in that case.

Investigators had no information about who pulled the trigger in Monday’s shooting. Police believe people in the neighborhood may have seen something, and they would like them to come forward, Foster said.

Anyone with a tip about the shooting is asked to call police at 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.
