U.S. 24 crash kills moped rider

A moped rider was killed early Monday on U.S. 24 about three miles west of Huntington after colliding with two vehicles, the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

The statement said the moped on County Road 750 West pulled out into the path of a vehicle driven by Linda K. Moore, 62, of Lagro, shortly after 6 a.m. A third vehicle collided with both the moped rider in the roadway and Moore’s vehicle, it said.

The statement said Moore’s vehicle got stuck under the third vehicle, driven by David Rose, 52, of Fowlerville, Mich., and Rose's vehicle caught fire.

The moped rider’s identity has not been released, pending identification and family notification, the sheriff’s department said.
