IPFW at Dartmouth

When: 2 p.m. today

Where: Hanover, N.H.

Records: IPFW 3-3, Dartmouth 1-1

Radio: 1380 AM

IPFW leaders: Frank Gaines (22.2 ppg), Mario Hines (7.0 rpg), Pierre Bland (2.5 apg)

Dartmouth leaders: Gabas Maldunas (16.5 ppg), Jvonte Brooks (10.0 rpg), Alex Mitola (2.5 apg)

Key matchup: Dartmouth likes to slow the game, which is exactly the opposite of IPFW’s style, so whichever team can get the other to play its tempo will have the advantage. Last season IPFW defeated Dartmouth 56-51. Frank Gaines had 21 for the Mastodons and Joe Edwards had 8.

The skinny: IPFW is coming off the euphoria of its 92-22 mismatch with Judson, but that’s a once-in-a-generation score. Dartmouth’s 6-foot-9 Maldunas will give the Mastodons a matchup problem underneath. But the Big Green doesn’t take care of the ball; in their first two games, they’ve had 14 assists and 31 turnovers.
