Hope on the win

Purdue coach Danny Hope discussed the impact of Saturday’s 56-34 victory against Indiana. With the win, the Boilermakers became bowl eligible.

“We are a very close football team and there was a point in the season, up to about 20 minutes ago, that all we had was ourselves in the locker room. We did a great job of locking arms and believing in each other on the football field,” Hope said. “The rivalry is huge, the Oaken Bucket is huge, but we won today for ourselves. The ones that three or four weeks ago no one else believed in. I’m very proud to keep the Bucket in West Lafayette, that’s where it belongs. They ought to stick our zip code on the side and leave it here.

“But today was about our football team.”
