Basement fire damages North Anthony home

FORT WAYNE -- A basement fire produced heavy smoke damage in a North Anthony Boulevard home on Friday, Fort Wayne firefighters said.

No one was injured.

Firefighters were called to 2521 N. Anthony about 12:15 p.m. on a report of a house fire, the Fort Wayne Fire Department said in a statement. It said the home's occupant ccame home to find the house full of smoke.

Crews found heavy smoke in the two-story home, and discovered a small fire in the basement near the furnace, the statement said.

It said the fire was controlled within 17 minutes, and the house was ventilated to remove the smoke.
