I share the frustration of many over the recent election results. Indiana gave up a prime opportunity to re-elect Sen. Richard Lugar. Though many Hoosiers were increasingly frustrated with Lugars reluctance to take a conservative stance against the socialist agenda being shoved upon our nations citizenry, it was poor judgment to think there could be a better candidate.
Things would work better if we sent the same individuals over and over to Washington, D.C., to represent us. They know how D.C. works and dont rush to change things. It was a foolish inclination to think the tea party could meddle in our nations affairs in an attempt to steer her toward fiscal responsibility and a smaller, constitutional government.
For whatever reason, we believed in what we were doing. How ridiculous of us to think we could withstand the false perceptions painted by NPR, NBC, ABC, CBS, and all the powerful media outlets?
Perhaps it is too much to ask for your forgiveness. We merely believed that a simple band of citizens could stand up to ineffective leadership and change things to the betterment of all. Should we accept the socialist agenda that now drives our nation and step aside so President Obama can fundamentally transform it? After all, hes proved over the past four years that he has our best interests at heart.
The socialists, progressives and liberals of the Democratic party run this nation, and that isnt going to change. Do we follow their lead and cast aside a Constitution that assures all citizens of certain, unalienable rights and limits the power of government in exchange for big-government control?
Hoosiers fairly and squarely elected a Democratic senator who, based on his past performance in D.C., will be an extension of over-reaching government. Maybe the tea party needs to respect the wishes of fellow Hoosiers and recognize there is no room at the table for those who wish to change Washington.
