    Mad Ants guard Ron Howard and center Tommy Smith accepted invitations to the NBA Development League Elite Mini Camp, which started Monday and runs through Tuesday in Chicago.

    It wasn't only the Mad Ants that made 2012-13 their best season; the rest of the NBA Development League had a record-setting year, as well.

Ants trail at half

The Duane Ticknor era began Friday, and so far, the Mad Ants are off to a bad start.

Erie owns a 58-43 halftime lead in the season-opener at Memorial Coliseum.

Despite getting two players from NBA affiliate Indiana Pacers, the Ants are shooting 15 of 43 from the floor for 34.9 percent.

Miles Plumlee and Orlando Johnson, assigned to Fort Wayne from the Pacers, are a combined 4 of 16. Between them, they have 12 points and six turnovers.

Walker Russell Jr. leads the Ants with 13 points and 5 assists.
