Komets, Wings tied

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Komets and Kalamazoo Wings are tied at 1 after one period at Wings Stadium.

Both teams have scored on power plays.

Jean-Michel Rizk did so for the Komets -- during a 4-on-3 power play -- after Brandon Marino set him up with a backhand cross-ice pass. John Armstrong tied it for the Wings on a redirection.

Something I've noticed is that the Wings are really going after Marino physically. They've been running him hard, sometimes from behind, and Fort Wayne needs to do a better job of protecting its most lethal scorer.
