Gabe Guentzel joins the Komets

Statement as issued Thursday by the Komets:

“Defenseman Gabe Guentzel has been assigned to the Komets from Norfolk of the AHL. Guentzel has appeared in six games with Norfolk this season scoring an assist and six penalty minutes. The Woodbury, Minnesota native made his pro debut last season with Syracuse of the AHL skating 12 games at the end of the season after completing four seasons in the WCHA at Colorado College. Guentzel was named to the 2011-12 WCHA All-Second Team and led Colorado College defensemen with 22 assists and 26 points. Guentzel is expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Komets host Kalamazoo.”
