Area's jobless rate falls in October

Metro Fort Wayne had a noteworthy drop in unemployment in October, declining to 6.8 percent from 7.5 percent a month earlier, Indiana Department of Workforce Development figures showed Tuesday.

Joblessness in the metropolitan area – comprised of Allen, Whitley and Wells counties – was lower than the average for the state and the country.

Indiana’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 8 percent in October from 8.2 percent in September. The seasonally adjusted jobless figure for the country inched up to 7.9 percent last month from 7.8 percent in September.
