Office Depot opens smaller, redesigned Northcrest store

Office Depot has reopened a smaller, redesigned store at 705 Northcrest Shopping Center, nearly three months after an electrical fire closed it.

The store has been reduced to 18,000 square feet from the former 32,000 square feet, a size that's more convenient for customers, Office Depot said in a statement.

Store hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Its phone is 260-484-0890.

Fire crews were sent to the store Aug. 20 after employees arriving for work smelled smoke, Fire Chief Amy Biggs said in an earlier story.

Firefighters found a small fire in an underground vault that held high-voltage wiring and extinguished it. But workers found a smoldering fire in the vault that afternoon, and the business filled with smoke. The store was closed indefinitely while repairs were being made.

Office Depot has other Fort Wayne locations on West Jefferson Boulevard, Maysville Road and Lima Road.
