1 person injured, 2 escape duplex fire

One adult is in serious condition this morning after an apartment fire at 1006 Lincoln Ave., according to a Fort Wayne Fire Department report.

Firefighters were called at 12:16 a.m. to the two-story duplex building and found heavy smoke and fire, the report said. Crews rescued the victim from the burning building and that person was taken to a hospital. Two other adults safely escaped with three pets before firefighters arrived.

The fire was contained in one apartment and its attic by 12:58 a.m., the report said. The duplex had heavy smoke, fire and water damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
