Irish dominate in home finale

Notre Dame will head west with its perfect record in tact and the stylish win everyone was looking for over the last three games.

The No. 3 Irish crushed Wake Forest 38-0 Saturday in Notre Dame Stadium as they completed their first undefeated home season since 1998.

Notre Dame scored more in its home finale than it scored in any of its home victories this season, and it keeps the 11-0 Irish in the national championship picture as they head to USC next week to finish the regular season. The Demon Deacons fell to 5-6.

The only thing that didn't help Notre Dame on Saturday was the Trojans losing to UCLA 38-28. USC, which began the season ranked No. 1, is now 7-4.

Notre Dame entered this weekend third in the BCS standings behind No. 1 Kansas State and No. 2 Oregon. The Irish will likely need one of those teams, which both play tonight, to lose if they hope to reach the national championship game, even with another blowout win like Saturday's.
