His combative stance and his abrupt hand movement hinted at the possibility of danger.A freight train hit a Waterloo man’s motorcycle at a railroad crossing Sunday night after he was thrown off the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.
Brian Frye, 52, was riding a 2009 Harley-Davidson north on County Road 27, south of U.S. 6, when he lost control of the motorcycle at the crossing. He was thrown to the ground, breaking his leg and receiving cuts to his head and arm. An eastbound Norfolk Southern train then struck the motorcycle, totaling it.
Medics were dispatched to the crossing about 9:15 p.m., and Frye was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was in fair condition Monday night, hospital staff said.
