Volleyball team to face Oakland

If IPFW is to reach the championship match of the Summit League volleyball tournament, the Mastodons will have to beat Oakland for the first time this season.

The league announced that No. 2 seed IPFW will be paired against No. 3 seed Oakland at 6 p.m. in the semifinals Friday in Fargo, N.D.

IPFW lost to the Grizzlies twice this season.

In the other semifinal, top-seeded IUPUI will play No. 4 seed UMKC. The winners return Saturday to play for the Summit League title and a berth in the NCAA tournament.

Additionally, IPFW's Emily Spencer was named co-Offensive Player of the Week in volleyball.

Spencer joined North Dakota State's Megan Lambertson in the honor.

Spencer had 16 kills and two errors in an IPFW win over Western Illinois, then had 26 kills and 14 digs in a five-set loss to IUPUI.
