Striped Preemie Hat
This is a very small, simple hat, sized for a baby between 5.5 and 6 pounds, although baby head sizes vary.
I have a few notes in the pattern on avoiding a color jog when you change colors, if you choose to add stripes. But the hat is cute either way.
You can use any yarn that knits well at a gauge of 25.2 stitches in 4 inches. Fingering-weight or sport weight yarn would work well. If you are making this for a preemie (and not just, I guess, decoration), consider using a non-wool, machine-washable yarn like Debbie Bliss's Ecobaby Fairtrade. I used small amounts of handspun yarn.
Chat
On top of having a super-awesome name, Sylvia Bo Bilvia is also a really fun designer and all-around yarn lover. I had a great time talking with her. We talked about cat breeds for a little bit, but, I swear, there is a lot of good knitting chatter, too.
