Anthony Johnson scored 14 points as Purdue defeated Hofstra 83-54 Sunday in a 2K Sports Classic West Lafayette Regional contest at Mackey Arena.
Sandi Marcius added 11 points as the Boilermakers (1-1) bounced back from a loss in the season opener Friday against Bucknell.
Purdue dominated in every way Sunday, including rebounding. The Boilermakers had a 50-22 rebounding edge.
Purdue shot 51.6 percent from the floor. Hofstra (0-2) shot 34.5 percent.
Rapheal Davis, a Fort Wayne native, was in Purdue’s starting lineup. He finished with eight points and seven rebounds.
Ronnie Johnson had nine points, seven assists and six rebounds. Jacob Lawson scored eight points. Terone Johnson had six points. He missed the opener with an ankle injury.
The 2K Sports Classic continues Thursday with Purdue facing Villanova at Madison Square Garden.
