Stepdad charged in boy’s beating

A Fort Wayne man accused of beating his 7-year-old stepson with an extension cord has been charged with felony battery.

Winston Pearson Jr., 33, of the 1600 block of East Washington Boulevard, had not been arrested late Thursday.

On March 23, Pearson hit the boy with the cord after he got in trouble at school and a note was sent home, according to court papers.

The beating left numerous welts on the boy’s legs and left arm, court papers said.
