This weeks print pattern is the Cartridge Rib Burp Cloth.
I wanted a simple burp cloth to make and use up some variegated cotton yarn I had. I found this stitch pattern and decided it would be easy enough to knit, but still be interesting and look good in my yarn.
Im really happy with the result. The hard part is getting family members to use burp cloths, let alone handmade ones. This same pattern could be used to make a larger-than-usual dishcloth.
What youll need:
Needles: No. 6, any variety
Yarn: Worsted-weight cotton yarn
What you need to know:
Gauge: 6.5 stitches per inch, in Cartridge Rib
sl1wyif: With the working yarn in front, slip the next stitch from the left-hand needle to the right-hand needle.
What youll do:
Cast on 47 stitches.
Work Cartridge Rib:
Row 1: k3, (sl1wyif, k3) to end.
r2: k1, (sl1wyif, k3) to the last 2 sts; sl1wyif, k1.
Repeat these two rows until the cloth is 10 inches long. Cast off.
Darn in all ends. Enjoy.
