Tardy taxi fare stirs meth bust, 3 arrests

Fairchild
Nichols
Stanley

A report of an unpaid taxi fare led Warsaw police to find a methamphetamine lab and the arrest a man and two women.

About 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, a cabdriver called police to the Super 8 motel after three people did not pay their cab fare, Warsaw police said.

Officers found the three in a motel room that contained meth ingredients and later came across an active one-pot lab in a motel trash bin, police said. Billy Fairchild, 27, of Pierceton, Erika Nichols, 27, of Warsaw, and Jennifer Stanley, 40, also of Warsaw were each charged with dealing meth, possession of precursors and theft. Fairchild was also charged with meth possession.

Fairchild and Nichols were both being held Thursday at the Kosciusko County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. Stanley, who had two warrants for failing to appear, was in custody with a bail of $51,500.

On Oct. 13, officers arrested Fairchild and Nichols on similar charges at the Days Inn in Warsaw, police said.
