Making way for business

Birds gather to eat sunflowers at a garden in downtown Eugene, Ore. The garden next to the federal courthouse has been sold by the city of Eugene to make room for Northwest Community Credit Union headquarters. The University of Oregon now uses the space for teaching a landscape architecture class and organic gardening. Food raised on the site is given to local charities.
